Otto Koenigsberger (1908 – 1999) was a German architect who was appointed chief architect and planner to Mysore State in 1939. Today, there are still around 30 buildings existing in Bangalore. After Indian Independence he became Director of Housing from 1948 to 1951, working on resettling those displaced by partition. Later, he moved to London. In 1989, Königsberger was one of the first recipients of the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour, the most prestigious award given by the United Nations in recognition of work carried out in the field of human settlements development.
